MCP: viora in any AI

viora mcp is a Model Context Protocol server. Add it to the AI tools you already use and they can speak to you, hear your answer, ask a viora assistant, and hand jobs to a background task, in English or Swahili.

Add it

Install viora (see Voice desk) and run viora setup once to choose the voice and ears. Then:

AppHow
Claude Codeclaude mcp add viora -- viora mcp
Codex CLIcodex mcp add viora -- viora mcp
Gemini CLIgemini mcp add viora viora mcp
opencodein opencode.json: "mcp": {"viora": {"type": "local", "command": ["viora", "mcp"]}}
Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code{"mcpServers": {"viora": {"command": "viora", "args": ["mcp"]}}} in the app's MCP settings file

Without installing first, use uvx --from viora-ai viora mcp as the command. viora mcp --help prints these lines.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
speakSays text aloud on your computer with a natural English or Swahili voice. Good for “the build finished” or a question for you.
listenA soft sound, then it listens until you stop talking and returns your words and their language.
converseSpeaks, then listens: a spoken question with a spoken answer.
detect_languageEnglish or Swahili, with confidence. Handles mixed, informal text.
ask_vioraAsks a viora website or app assistant, which answers only from that business's information.
start_taskHands a job to a background task. It is announced aloud when done.
task_statusStatus of one task, with the end of its log, or the latest tasks.

Try it

In Claude Code after adding the server:

> Run the tests, and when they finish, tell me the result out loud in Swahili.
> Ask me by voice which folder to clean up, then do it.

The server speaks MCP over stdio (protocol versions 2024-11-05 to 2025-11-25) with no extra dependencies, and writes nothing to stdout except protocol messages.
